Welcome to the conference website!
Dear Colleagues,
we are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Milan in June 2026 for the 23rd International Conference on English Historical Linguistics (ICEHL-23). This First Circular contains general information about the Conference.
Call for Papers
We invite submissions for panels, oral presentations and poster sessions on all aspects of English historical linguistics. Abstracts should be a maximum of 300 words (excluding references) and should clearly outline the research question, methodology, and main findings. Further details on the submission process, including deadlines and guidelines, will be provided in the second circular and on this website.
Conference Programme
The academic programme will commence in the afternoon of 15 June. The schedule includes:
- 15 June: Sessions in the afternoon
- 16 June: Sessions in the morning and afternoon
- 17 June: Sessions in the morning and afternoon
- 18 June: Morning sessions and a business meeting before the Conference concludes around lunchtime.
We are delighted to announce the plenary speakers for ICEHL-23:
John Considine (University of Alberta), Marina Dossena (University of Bergamo), Simon Horobin (University of Oxford), and Carol Percy (University of Toronto). Further details about their talks, as well as session themes, will be shared in a future circular.
Social Programme
The conference will also feature a variety of social events, including:
- 15 June (evening): Welcome reception
- 16 June (afternoon): Guided tour of Milan
- 17 June (evening): Conference dinner
Further details, including locations and registration for these events, will be provided in due course.
Registration
Registration for the conference will open in January 2026. More information, including registration fees and deadlines, will be included in the Second Circular, to be distributed in October 2025. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us via email icehl.23@unimi.it if you have any questions.
