Elisabetta Cecconi

Elisabetta Cecconi (elisabetta.cecconi@unifi.it) is Associate Professor of English Language and Translation at the University of Florence. Her areas of interest are historical pragmatics and corpus linguistics, both applied to journalistic language and the language of legal proceedings in the courtroom. She has published essays on news discourse and courtroom discourse in 17th and 18th century English and American contexts. She is the author of The Language of Defendants in the 17th-Century English Courtroom (2012) and News-Reporting and Ideology in 17th-Century English Murder Pamphlets (2023).
